Cooking up a storm
Pregnant and self-isolating? Here are some great recipes and teas you can get prepping now for your freezer, so that come D-day you’ll have some lip-smacking food to nourish you in those early days and weeks after birth.
Food can play an enormous role in your recovery after birth – from a physical point of you need to rebuild your reserves, replace lost fluids, nutrients, rebuild your blood, make breast milk, heal.
And from an emotional point of view you need to feel nourished, cared for, be eating as many oxytocin-boosting foods as you can.
Using this time of social distancing and self isolation to stock up your freezer with some nutritious, delicious recipes will be of such help and support to you after birth, when all you want to be doing is Falling in Love, Feeding and Finding Your Feet.
If you have family and friends who may also have some free time at the moment, you could also create a virtual cooking circle – each of them could double batch cook a meal in their home, keep half of it for themselves and either drop the other half off at your door (you could leave a freezer box outside) or keep it in their freezer until isolation restrictions lift a little in your area. You’d then have nearly a week’s supply of delicious meals to turn to after birth.
All of these recipes are taken from the NuaNua Postpartum Recipe Book, which has over 60 pages of recipes, teas and remedies tailored to your needs after birth. You get this book free as part of the NuaNua Postpartum Field Guide, which is launching soon.
